Year 2 2020/21

Welcome to Year 2!

The Year 2 class teachers this year are Miss Kruzynska and Miss Crowder. Helping to assist in our classroom will be Mr Stones and Miss Hale. Our P.E days are on Thursdays, please make sure you have your P.E kits in school. Homework menus will also be handed out at the beginning of each half term.

P.E: Our PE days are Thursdays. Please ensure that PE kits are brought in on Monday so the children are properly prepared for both lessons. At times, we may go outside for PE, a warm jacket or jumper may be beneficial during the colder temperatures. Please ensure that all PE kit is labelled clearly with your child's name.

Although we try to make sure kit goes home with the right child, this is sometimes a struggle and misplaced kit can be located in the lost property cupboard in the KS1 corridor.

Homework: Home Learning menus are given out at the start of every half term highlighting activities and projects the children can complete based on their current topic. These are optional and not all tasks need to be completed. Children will have the opportunity to share their learning with the rest of KS1 in a Merit Assembly on Friday afternoon. All projects will be displayed within school so that we can celebrate our achievements.

PPA: Our PPA is on a Thursday.

Y2 Summer Term - Age of the Dinosaurs

Hello Year 2! In the summer term, we will be travelling back in time to the 'Age of the Dinosaurs', the Mesozoic Era. During our adventures, we will discover what the prehistoric world was like and how it changed between when dinosaurs first appeared and the mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period.

Within our writing lessons, we will become camp members at Camp Cretaceous and involve ourselves in a range of suspenseful and exciting learning opportunities, including facing an extremely dangerous velociraptor and zip wiring over the 'roaring brachiosaurus'.

Within our Science lessons, we will take on the role of palaeontologists and investigate fossils and bones from dinosaurs of the past. In Geography, we will be working for National Geographic Magazine and will explore the world's oceans and continents, as well as learning how differing prehistoric life was compared to today, in terms of physical & human features, and climate change.

During the term, we will also have the chance to create our very own artistic collages, based on a prehistoric animal of our choice. We will develop our computer skills using Pic Collage, and will also learn about famous religious leaders within our RE lessons.
